I miss you so much dad - i have been thinking of you always and keeping you close, in both my memories and daily activities. I am starting my own coin collection as I fondly recall the joy on your face during our discussions over your collection and I hope to be able to share the same with your grandson, my son. I love you so much dad and miss you to no end.

Forever in my thoughts and in the laughter of my children dad,

Gabe

He loved puns and jokes

My dad loved playing with words - he would come up with all sorts of puns and jokes about common phrases, and would ponder out loud about how "butter flies", "frost heaves" and "bread sticks" (and as Claire will tell you, he conducted a test and determined that bread in fact, does not stick). My mom read us the "Little House on the Prairie" series when we were little, and I remember talking to my dad about how Mary came home in one of the chapters. We spent quite a while talking about how someone could travel in a chapter....One that recently came to my mind: What would you get if everyone in the country had a pink car? A pink carnation! I most certainly miss the jokes, goofiness and stories.

Death is nothing at all
I have only slipped away into the next room
I am I and you are you
Whatever we were to each other
That we are still
Call me by my old familiar name
Speak to me in the easy way you always used
Put no difference into your tone
Wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow
Laugh as we always laughed
At the little jokes we always enjoyed together
Play, smile, think of me, pray for me
Let my name be ever the household word that it always was
Let it be spoken without effort
Without the ghost of a shadow in it
Life means all that it ever meant
It is the same as it ever was
There is absolute unbroken continuity
What is death but a negligible accident?
Why should I be out of mind
Because I am out of sight?
I am waiting for you for an interval
Somewhere very near
Just around the corner
All is well.
Nothing is past; nothing is lost
One brief moment and all will be as it was before
How we shall laugh at the trouble of parting when we meet again!

Georgette, Me (Anica), Dad, and Claire outside of one of Dad's favorite restaurants - affectionately known as "Susan B Anthony's"

My dad and I (Anica) dancing at our wedding, June 20, 2009. We danced to "You get brighter" by the Incredible String Band. He picked the song, and it was perfect.
